Never Say Goodbye

A compelling and deeply moving novel of friendship, family and the power of love, from the Sunday Times top ten bestseller.

How would you cope with the threat of losing someone you love?

Josie Clark is a loving wife and mother. She and her husband Jeff don’t have much and it’s often difficult to make ends meet. But Josie will do anything to protect her family and keep them safe.

Bel Monkton is a successful property developer, living in a beautiful house by the sea. She seems to have everything going for her, but she’s lonely. And she’s let the shadows from her past cloud her future.

Josie’s life couldn’t be more different to Bel’s. But three years ago, tragedy tore Bel’s life in two. Now it’s happening to Josie.

And faced with uncertainty and heartbreak, they come to treasure their growing friendship.

Reviews for “Never Say Goodbye”

  • Marie Piper says:

Never Say Goodbye is one of the best books I have ever read on such an emotive subject, I cried through most of it! I was especially touched when I read on Page 84 that the young Eastern European girl who had been found dead was named Anca and she came from a town in Romania called Slatina. What memories that brought back for me, as in the early 90’s I worked as a volunteer in that town helping the many orphans and abandoned children. My interpreter’s name was Anca. You are a very gifted author – God Bless you. Marie

  • Anita says:

Really good book but so disappointed at the end (well it was good up to page 418 actually) as the last couple of pages were missing from the library book (from 419 onwards!!) How does this end please? Josie & Jeff were hoping to renew their vows, Bel has just got together with Harry, Josie’s cancer seems to be stable….what happens next please? Thanks Anita x

    • Susan Lewis says:

I’m afraid we can’t post it here, because it would spoil it for other readers. You should ask your library to get you a complete edition. Very sorry to hear that you’ve had this experience.

  • Nick Mason says:

In truth I am Jeff in this book! Downloaded the audio version from Audible and loved it! Your characters are full of real life! You have made me laugh, fill with emotion (man-code for cry) and chase away a few personal demons! Love the pace, style and reality!

    • Susan Lewis says:

Hi “Jeff” thank you so much for these very positive words. It’s not often I hear from a man, especially not one as open and self-confident as you clearly are. I can’t tell you how pleased I am that the book meant so much to you.

This is the second book I have read by Susan, took my 2days 2 read as I found I was always wanting to know what would happen next! Fell in love with Josie as she’s just a normal hard working lady trying to make ends meet, Bel is also another loveable character, the bond they both share is heart warming! I must admit I did cry quite a few times an found myself thinking of the storey days after reading it! Wonderful, amazing, touching storey from very start to end! Wonderful ending, well done Susan x

    • Susan Lewis says:

Such lovely words, Marina. Thank you so much. I’m so glad you found this book so moving and heartwarming. I loved Josie too, and yesterday I was at a Breast Cancer Care Fashion show thinking of her! Really brought tears to my eyes.
I hope you enjoy more of my books if you get round to them.

  • Sally Garland says:

Thouriughly enjoyed every minute if this book, a guttsy woman who protected her family no matter what the cost to herself. Loved the characters and the emotions, and being set in Bristol means so much more real. Susan brings the book to life for me, im not a regular book reader only when im on holiday as I dont get much time normally, but whenever I do its always a susan lewis book, and there are nearly always tears. Keep up the great work.

  • Kelly J says:
